It´s time for introducing ourselves. We are Fernando, Oscar and SofÃa. We have been friends for many years and if there is something that we share is our love for animals. They are all a member of the family for us. One day, all of a sudden, we came across the chance of discovering a new cat breed, which was unknown for us until then. To be honest, at that time there were only three cat breeds for us: The common European cat, Siamese cat and the Persian cat. We ended up finding out that there were many more breeds of cats. However, this one was unique, spectacular and unbelievable. It could not be other than the Norwegian Forest, (NFO)
We were absolutely impressed by their beauty. They look like small lynxes with this charm and mystical aura that surrounds them. On top of that, they are also so loving and docile and their behavior would seem more suitable for dogs than for cats. They wanted to be with us at all times, they were willing to play and to be patted… It was definitely love at first sight.
We spent countless hours devoted to search, to arrange our houses. We went to plenty of exhibitions and talks, we found out their best feeding and the special characteristics of this breed… Last but not least we also chose a name for the breeding place. It might sound simple but it wasn’t, believe us. We came up with thousands of names; some of them unforgettable (panzarriba, marramiau, catacat), but we eventually made up our minds and decided to pick up a name which was related to another of our hobbies, TV series, novels and films. And so we finally saw the light… Game of Thrones and the house Targaryen. We are all fond of this TV series and especially of these pretenders to the throne.
No sooner said than done. We soon had the register done in ASFE; the feline association of which we have been members since 2013 and hopefully for many years to come, doing our bit to preserve this amazing breed. We feel lucky to enjoy these cats and it is our goal to make it possible for other people to do so and to get to know the wonders of these spectacular breed.
We would like to briefly explain our way of raising, which differs a bit from the common one. Above all we look for the happiness of every single of our cats. We do not mean that other breeding methods are worse or wrong but that we do so because it seems the idea which fits better with our needs, life style and breeding method
As most of you can imagine, having males and females living in the same place is not an easy task. The hormonal urges rises their stress level and causes territorial trouble, fights and unexpected offspring. To avoid this and since we did not like the idea of keeping our cats in cages or separated in different catruns we have arrange everything so that the male cats won´t live in the same house as the female cats. As our breeding place counts with two human parts, it allows us to have the male living in one and females with the other. This makes it possible for each cat to enjoy the house freely, without anxiety and to have a better control of the different situations.
Another characteristic that distinguishes us is that we are a familiar breeding, with very few offspring a year in order to be able to give them greater attention. As we mentioned before, they are one member of our family and therefore, we share our lives with them twenty-four seven. We are a small breeding, but we are proud of it.
We take this opportunity to thank all these people who helped us learn; they still do, everything related to this wonderful world. We are permanently learning and it would have been impossible or at least much harder to have done it without their invaluable support.
